Milford Star
The “Milford Star” was commissioned in 1996 to the maximum length of 71 feet featuring a Josha Bow, rivets, recessed panels and a traditional stern. She was named after a 1942 trawler used as a minesweeper during WW2. She begun her life as a trip boat for freedom boats on the Macclesfield canal however later moved to Dean Lock in Wigan and converted to an afternoon tea rooms until we purchased the boat and brought her to Mercia Marina in May 2020. She was licensed as a trip boat however the pandemic scuppered our plans so we turned to a take-away cafe service that took off and became so popular that it stuck for the long term. In October 2023 we were offered the opportunity to manage the Mercia Swan trip boat and our fleet expanded.
Mercia Swan
The Mercia Swan is a purpose built 12.8 metre by 3.0 metre widebeam boat, with a cruiser style stern. It is powered by a 42 hp Canaline engine and we normally cruise at tickover speed. You can relax in style on the comfortable seating, either inside or out and enjoy the scenery passing by. If the weather should turn we can close off the bow doors and switch on the heating. For your convenience we have a flush toilet and wash hand basin. A full safety package is carried aboard and a safety instruction is given prior to each sailing. The Mercia Swan is currently licenced to carry 12 people (plus crew) for boat trips of any length of time.
